Training and Commissioning: Selected candidates undergo three years of joint training at the NDA, followed by one year of specialized training at their respective service academies (IMA for Army, AFA for Air Force, INA for Navy). Upon successful completion, they are commissioned as officers.

Salary and Benefits: The salary of an officer starts at Pay Level 10 (₹56,100 - ₹1,77,500). [16] In addition to the basic pay, officers receive numerous allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), Military Service Pay (MSP), and flying allowance. NDA Selection Process

The selection process is a two-stage journey designed to identify the most suitable candidates for a career in the armed forces.

• Stage 1: Written Examination: This is an offline, pen-and-paper test conducted by the UPSC. It consists of two papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). The GAT paper includes English and General Knowledge (Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, and Current Events). [4, 15]
• Stage 2: SSB Interview: Candidates who clear the written exam are called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview. This is a comprehensive 5-day evaluation of a candidate's personality, intelligence, and leadership potential. It includes psychological tests, group tasks, and a personal interview. [4, 32]

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: Must be a citizen of India.
• Education: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent. For Air Force and Naval Wings, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are compulsory subjects. [51]
• Age Limit: 16.5 to 19.5 years. [16]

How to Apply for the NDA Exam

The application process is managed online through the official UPSC website.

1. One-Time Registration (OTR): New users must first register on the UPSC OTR platform at upsconline.nic.in by providing basic personal details. [11, 52]
2. Login and Application: Log in using your credentials and find the application link for the NDA examination.
3. Fill Application Form: The form is divided into two parts. Fill in your personal details, educational qualifications, and choose your preferred branches and exam centers. [29]
4. Upload Documents: Upload your recent photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size. [43]
5. Fee Payment: Pay the application fee of ₹100 online (SC/ST/Sons of JCOs/NCOs/ORs are exempt). [11]
6. Final Submission: Review your application thoroughly before final submission. It is recommended to save or print a copy for your records.
