Ministry of Health Launches 'Ayushman Bhav' Campaign
2026-08-08Background: The Indian government has been consistently working towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through various initiatives under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA). These schemes aim to provide financial protection and improve access to healthcare services.
Current Context: On August 7, 2026, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched the 'Ayushman Bhav' campaign. This nationwide initiative aims to achieve saturation of AB-PMJAY and ABHA in all villages and urban areas. The campaign will run from August 7 to September 30, 2026, focusing on ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries are covered and that every citizen has an ABHA ID.
Impact: The 'Ayushman Bhav' campaign is expected to significantly boost the reach and effectiveness of India's healthcare programs. By ensuring comprehensive coverage and access to digital health records, it will empower citizens, improve health outcomes, and strengthen the overall healthcare infrastructure of the country.
