Background: The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme was launched to provide income support to all landholding farmer families. The objective is to supplement their financial needs for agricultural and allied activities, as well as domestic needs. Current Context: As of August 10, 2026, the scheme has successfully disbursed multiple installments to millions of farmers across India. The government continues to ensure timely credit of the financial benefit, which amounts to Rs. 6,000 per annum, paid in three equal installments of Rs. 2,000 each. Impact: PM-KISAN has significantly improved the financial stability of small and marginal farmers, enabling them to invest in better seeds, fertilizers, and equipment, thereby boosting agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods.
