Science & Technology Current Affairs - 2026-10-15

Background: India's lunar exploration program has seen significant success with the Chandrayaan missions. Chandrayaan-3 successfully demonstrated a soft landing and rover operations near the lunar south pole. Current Context: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is currently in the advanced planning stages for the Chandrayaan-4 mission. The primary objective is to achieve another landing, potentially on the lunar south pole, with a target year of 2028. This mission is expected to focus on in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) and conduct more complex scientific experiments than its predecessors. Impact: Chandrayaan-4 aims to further solidify India's position as a leader in space exploration. Success in ISRU could pave the way for sustainable lunar bases and future deep space missions. The mission will also foster international collaboration, sharing knowledge and technology with global space agencies.
