Ayushman Bhav Campaign Launched for Universal Health Coverage
2026-08-31Background: India has been striving towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to ensure that all individuals and communities receive the health services they need without suffering financial hardship. The National Health Policy 2017 also emphasizes UHC.
Current Context: On August 31, 2026, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched the 'Ayushman Bhav' campaign. This nationwide initiative aims to saturate all villages and urban wards with essential health services by providing doorstep delivery of Ayushman Cards (Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0), organizing health camps (Ayushman Melas) at Health and Wellness Centres, and fostering community engagement through Ayushman Sabhas.
Impact: The campaign is expected to significantly boost the reach and accessibility of healthcare services, particularly in rural and underserved areas. It aims to ensure that every citizen receives comprehensive healthcare, thereby improving overall health outcomes and strengthening the public health system at the grassroots level.
