Vacancies for AFCAT are released per entry type (Flying, Ground Duty Technical, and Non-Technical). The exact distribution is as follows:

The examination fee for AFCAT entry is INR 550 (plus applicable payment gateway charges) for all candidates. Registration for Meteorology entry is exempted from the fee. The age limit for Flying Branch is 20 to 24 years, and for Ground Duty branches, it is 20 to 26 years as of the official crucial date mentioned in the notification.

• Upper age limit for candidates holding valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued by DGCA is relaxable up to 26 years.
• No specific category-wise (SC/ST/OBC) age relaxation is applicable for AFCAT entry as per the official recruitment policy.

Flying Branch: Minimum 50% marks in Math and Physics at 10+2 level and Graduation with 60% marks in any discipline or BE/B.Tech.

Ground Duty (Tech): 10+2 with 60% in Math and Physics and a four-year degree in Engineering/Technology.

Ground Duty (Non-Tech): Graduation with 60% marks or Post-Graduation with 50% marks depending on the specific branch requirements.

Officers are commissioned at the rank of Flying Officer in the Pay Matrix Level 10 (INR 56,100 – 1,77,500). Total monthly emoluments include Military Service Pay (MSP), Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, and Flying Allowance where applicable.

Admit cards are available on afcat.cdac.in two weeks prior to the exam. Candidates must carry the printed e-admit card, two passport-size color photographs, and a valid original photo ID (Aadhar Card, PAN Card, or Passport) to the examination center.

The IAF does not release official answer keys for the AFCAT exam. Candidates are provided with their individual response sheets via the candidate dashboard after the declaration of the written results.

The final merit list is based on the combined marks secured in the Online AFCAT examination and the AFSB testing. Normalization is applied to the AFCAT written exam scores to account for variations in difficulty levels across different shifts.

Focus on high-weightage topics: Synonyms/Antonyms in English, Profit/Loss and Time/Work in Numerical Ability, and Static GK (History, Geography, Polity). Practice OIR test sets daily to improve speed and accuracy for AFSB Stage I. Use previous year papers to understand the pattern of Reasoning questions. Maintain physical fitness for the medical standards required for Air Force service.
