EMRS PGT Exam Eligibility Criteria
Updated 2026- Post Graduate Teachers (PGT):
- Candidates must hold a Post Graduate degree in the relevant subject for which they are applying.
- A B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree is a mandatory requirement.
- Exception: Candidates who have successfully completed a 4-year integrated degree program that includes the B.Ed. qualification within the structure of the course are exempt from the requirement of a separate B.Ed. degree.
- PGT (Computer Science):
- Candidates are required to possess a Master's degree (M.Sc. in Computer Science or MCA) or a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Computer Science or Information Technology from a university or institution recognized by a competent authority.
The eligibility regarding age for the EMRS PGT recruitment is strictly defined to ensure a fair selection. The general maximum age limit for applicants is set at 40 years. This age constraint is a standard requirement for recruitment, though it is subject to specific relaxations for various categories as dictated by government norms. For current employees of the Eklavya Model Residential Schools, the age limit is further relaxed up to 55 years, facilitating the internal movement and retention of experienced staff. It is crucial for every candidate to cross-verify their date of birth against the official cutoff criteria before applying, as any violation of these limits may lead to the disqualification of the candidate at the document verification stage.
The selection process for the EMRS PGT 2026 position is a robust, multi-stage assessment designed to ensure only highly competent teachers enter the classroom. The stages are as follows:
- Tier 1 (CBT - Qualifying Stage): This is the initial screening round. Candidates must successfully navigate a Computer Based Test consisting of objective-type questions covering General Awareness, Reasoning, ICT, Teaching Aptitude, and the specific subject matter. Additionally, a language proficiency test in Hindi and English is conducted, which is mandatory to qualify.
- Tier 2 (CBT - Mains Examination): This is the decisive stage. Successful qualifiers from Tier 1 proceed to this round, which also takes place in a Computer Based Test format. This stage tests the candidates through both objective and descriptive questions. The final merit list and selection are largely based on the performance achieved in this specific tier.
- Document Verification (DV): Once a candidate performs well in the written stages, they are called for document verification. This is the final stage where the original educational certificates, caste certificates (where applicable), identity proof, and other required documents are scrutinized to confirm the candidate's eligibility and authenticity. Failure to produce valid, original documents can lead to immediate disqualification.
- SC/ST Candidates: Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided as per existing government orders.
- OBC (NCL) Candidates: Candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) are eligible for age relaxation in accordance with central government norms.
- EMRS Employees: A specific relaxation is granted to existing EMRS employees, allowing them to apply for the PGT position up to the age of 55 years.
- General Category: The standard upper age limit remains 40 years.
- Further Categories: Candidates belonging to other reserved categories are advised to refer to the official notification to understand the specific number of years of relaxation applicable to their individual status.
