NCRTC Technician (Standard) Eligibility Criteria
Updated 2026Candidates must possess the requisite technical qualifications to be considered for the NCRTC Technician roles. Higher academic qualifications do not replace the mandatory ITI requirement. The core qualification criteria are as follows:
- Technician (Electrician): ITI (NCVT/SCVT) Certificate in the Electrician trade.
- Technician (Electronic Mechanic): ITI (NCVT/SCVT) Certificate in the Electronic Mechanic trade.
- Technician (Air Conditioning & Refrigeration): ITI (NCVT/SCVT) Certificate in the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanic trade.
- Technician (Fitter): ITI (NCVT/SCVT) Certificate in the Fitter trade.
- Technician (Welder): ITI (NCVT/SCVT) Certificate in the Welder trade or an equivalent qualification.
Note: It is mandatory for candidates to hold an ITI certificate. Any higher qualification provided by the candidate will not be considered if the fundamental ITI requirement is not met.
For the NCRTC Technician recruitment, the organization strictly enforces an age limit to ensure the workforce maintains a specific profile. Candidates applying for these roles must ensure they do not exceed 25 years of age. This limit is the standard ceiling for the open category. Age calculations are conducted relative to the specific cut-off date mentioned in the official notification. Candidates must provide valid proof of birth date during the application process, such as a birth certificate or a recognized educational certificate, to verify their eligibility.
The selection process for the NCRTC Technician recruitment is a two-staged procedure designed to vet candidates for both academic excellence and physical readiness. The stages are as follows:
- Computer Based Test (CBT): This is the first and primary stage of selection. It assesses the candidate's knowledge in their respective trade, along with general aptitude, including reasoning, mathematics, and language proficiency.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully clear the CBT are shortlisted for a medical fitness test. This stage is crucial to ensure that candidates are physically fit and capable of performing the technical duties required for the position.
- SC/ST: 05 years of age relaxation is provided.
- OBC: 03 years of age relaxation is provided.
- Ex-Servicemen: As per the Government of India guidelines, with the condition that the maximum age does not exceed 45 years after all relaxations are applied.
Note: These Technician positions are not suitable for candidates under the PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) category.
