Selection Process

The selection process for the Gujarat High Court Civil Judge recruitment is covered in three steps to ensure qualified candidates are appointed to the judicial services. Gujarat Judiciary Civil Judge Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The Preliminary exam is an elimination test that contains only objective-type questions. There are two papers in Stage 1. The Paper 1 is divided into three parts. Part A is for Criminal Laws, Part B is for Civil Laws, and Part C is for General Knowledge, English Language, Test of Reasoning, Numerical & Mental Ability, and Basics of Computer Applications. Paper 2 is for the Test of Gujarati Language. The Prelims exam is qualifying in nature, so marks are not counted for the final merit.

Paper 1

  • The exam will be conducted on an OMR sheet.
  • The maximum marks of the Prelims are 100.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  • Each question will carry 1 mark.
  • For every wrong answer, 0.33 marks will be deducted
  • The language of the question paper will be in English only.

Paper 2

  • The Gujarati Language exam is of 50 marks.
  • The duration of the exam is 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Candidates have to score 40% or more marks to qualify for the Mains exam.
