RPSC Lecturer Eligibility Criteria

Updated 2026

Educational Requirements

The RPSC mandates specific educational qualifications to maintain high academic standards. The criteria are as follows:

For General School Lecturer Roles:

  • Post-Graduation: A Master’s degree or equivalent in the relevant subject.
  • Teaching Qualification: A recognized B.Ed. degree or a diploma/certificate in education approved by the NCTE or UGC.
  • Commerce Specific: Candidates must hold a PG in Commerce with either a Bachelor's in Commerce or two recognized teaching subjects.
  • Physical Education/Coaches: PG in Physical Education or equivalent qualification, plus a specialized diploma or certificate from a recognized sports institution (such as NIS).
  • Language and Culture: A working knowledge of Hindi (written in Devanagari script) and a fundamental awareness of the culture of Rajasthan is mandatory for all posts.

For Agriculture Lecturer Roles:

  • Bachelor's Degree: A 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Horticulture.
  • Post-Graduation: An M.Sc. or equivalent PG degree in Agriculture or Horticulture.
  • Professional Qualification: Must hold a B.Ed. degree as per the commission’s requirements.
  • Local Knowledge: Fluency in written Hindi (Devanagari script) and a general understanding of Rajasthani culture.

Age Eligibility

The RPSC School Lecturer recruitment maintains a standardized age policy to ensure a balanced workforce composition. For both the general School Lecturer positions and the specialized Agriculture Lecturer posts, the age criteria are identical. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and must not exceed the maximum age limit of 40 years. This broad 19-year age window is intended to accommodate both fresh graduates and experienced professionals who wish to join the state's education service. It is highly recommended that candidates calculate their age based on the specific reference date mentioned in the official notification to ensure they fall within the 21–40 age bracket.

Selection Phases

The selection process for the RPSC 1st Grade Lecturer recruitment is a two-stage evaluation designed to assess both subject mastery and candidate authenticity.

Stage 1: Written Examination

The written examination is the primary eliminatory stage. It is divided into two papers:

  • Paper I (General Studies): Carries 150 marks. The duration for this paper is 1.5 hours.
  • Paper II (Subject Concerned): Carries 300 marks. The duration for this paper is 3 hours.

The total weightage of the written exam is 450 marks. Both papers feature objective-type (MCQ) questions. A key aspect of this stage is the negative marking policy, where one-third of a mark is deducted for every wrong answer. Candidates must achieve a minimum qualifying score of 40%, with a 5% relaxation available for reserved categories.

Stage 2: Document Verification

After the written exam results are published, shortlisted candidates proceed to the document verification phase. This stage serves to confirm that the information provided in the application matches the original credentials. Candidates must present their educational mark sheets, degree certificates, age proof, and category certificates by the specified deadline. Failure to provide any required document at this stage can lead to disqualification from the final merit list.

Age Relaxation Policy

The Rajasthan Public Service Commission provides standard age relaxation to candidates belonging to reserved categories, in line with the government of Rajasthan's social welfare mandates. While the base age criteria is 21 to 40 years, relaxation is typically available for candidates from the following backgrounds:

  • Scheduled Castes (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST)
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC)
  • Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWD)
  • Female candidates of specific categories (as per state norms)
  • Widows and divorced women

These relaxations ensure that candidates from diverse social and economic backgrounds have a fair opportunity to apply for the School Lecturer positions. Candidates are advised to refer to the official notification for the exact number of years of relaxation permitted for each specific category, as these figures are subject to state government policy updates.
