MP SET Eligibility Criteria
Updated 2026- Master's Degree: Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject from a recognized university.
- Minimum Marks: A minimum of 55% marks is required for General category candidates, while 50% is required for Reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD) candidates.
- Provisional Eligibility: Candidates who are in their final year or final semester of their postgraduate studies, or those whose results are pending, are allowed to apply. Their eligibility is deemed provisional until they produce their final marksheet confirming the required percentage.
- Ph.D. Holders: Candidates who obtained their Master's degree by September 19, 1991, are entitled to a 5% relaxation, meaning the requirement for them is 50% instead of 55%.
One of the notable features of the Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test is its inclusive policy regarding age. According to the official notification released by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, there is no upper or lower age limit for candidates appearing for the MP SET. This policy allows professionals and academics at any stage of their career to qualify for the eligibility certificate required for Assistant Professor positions, thereby fostering a diverse and experienced academic workforce.
The selection process for the MP SET is straightforward and objective, focusing entirely on a candidate's performance in the written examination. There are no subsequent interviews or stages organized by the MPPSC for the eligibility test itself.
- Written Examination: Candidates must qualify in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 to be considered for the eligibility certificate.
- Qualifying Thresholds: The minimum qualifying mark is 40% for the general category and 35% for the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PwD).
- Merit List: A merit list is prepared based on the marks secured in the written examination. Those who meet the threshold and are listed in the final merit list are awarded the E-Certificate.
As there is no age limit defined for the MP SET examination, the concept of traditional age relaxation, which is often seen in direct government recruitment exams, does not apply here. All eligible candidates, regardless of their age, are permitted to sit for the examination provided they meet the requisite educational qualifications. This accessibility ensures that candidates can pursue their teaching aspirations throughout their professional lives without being hindered by age-based eligibility restrictions.
