Educational Qualifications for CTET 2026

Candidates must possess the requisite educational qualifications as mandated by the NCTE to appear for the CTET 2026. The criteria differ for Paper I and Paper II.

Paper I (Primary Stage, Classes I-V)

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with NCTE regulations.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

Paper II (Elementary Stage, Classes VI-VIII)

• Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 1-year/2-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
• Graduation with at least 40% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a B.Ed, in accordance with NCTE regulations.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.El.Ed.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
