Bihar STET Eligibility Criteria 2026

Paper I (Classes 9-10)

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, supplemented by a B.Ed. degree. Subjects like Hindi, Urdu, English, and Social Science require the respective subject as a major in graduation. For Mathematics, a Bachelor’s in Math/Physics/Chemistry or B.Tech with Math is required. Physical Education, Music, and Fine Arts have specialized graduate degree requirements.

Paper II (Classes 11-12)

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, plus a B.Ed. degree. Specialized subjects like Computer Science allow multiple pathways, including 'A' Level from DOEACC combined with a PG degree, or B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science/IT. Agriculture candidates require a graduation degree in Agriculture/Horticulture and a post-graduate degree in fields like Agronomy or Plant Breeding.

To be eligible for the Bihar STET 2026, candidates must meet specific age requirements set by the Bihar School Examination Board. The minimum age for all candidates is 21 years. The maximum age limits are as follows:

• General (Male): 37 years
• General (Female): 40 years
• OBC/EBC: 40 years
• SC/ST: 42 years
• PwD Candidates: Relaxation of 10 years
• Ex-servicemen: 3 years plus the length of service, with a maximum limit of 57 years

The selection process for the Bihar STET 2026 is straightforward, centered around a single competitive eligibility assessment. Candidates undergo the following stages:

1. Online Application: Candidates register and fill out the online form, providing all academic and personal credentials.
2. Examination (CBT): Candidates sit for a computer-based test (Paper I or Paper II, or both). The exam consists of 150 objective-type questions to be completed in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
3. Result & Certificate Issuance: Upon achieving the minimum qualifying cut-off percentage, candidates are declared successful. They are subsequently issued a digital certificate, which confirms their lifetime eligibility to apply for teaching positions in the state.
4. Document Verification: As a final step before formal induction, candidates must undergo a mandatory document verification process at the district level. During this stage, original copies of educational mark sheets, B.Ed. degrees, and category-proof documents are scrutinized.

The Bihar School Examination Board provides structured age relaxation to specific categories to ensure equitable access to teaching roles. The relaxation policy is as follows:

• General (Female): Allowed up to 40 years of age.
• OBC/EBC: Allowed up to 40 years of age.
• SC/ST: Allowed up to 42 years of age.
• PwD (Persons with Disabilities): Granted a 10-year relaxation on the maximum age limit.
• Ex-Servicemen: Granted 3 years of relaxation plus their total length of military service, provided the final age does not exceed 57 years.
