PFRDA Assistant Manager Eligibility Criteria
Updated 2026The educational qualification requirements for the PFRDA Assistant Manager role are highly specific and tailored to the stream the candidate chooses. The organization mandates that candidates must possess a formal degree from a recognized university incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India.
For the General stream, a Masterβs degree in any discipline or a professional qualification like ACA, FCA, ACS, FCS, or CFA is sufficient. The Finance and Accounts stream specifically requires a graduation degree combined with a professional certification such as ACA/FCA, ACS/FCS, ACMA/FCMA, or CFA. The Information Technology stream is the most distinct, requiring a B.E. in fields like Electrical, Electronics, IT, or Computer Science, or a Masterβs in Computer Applications, with an additional mandatory requirement of 2 years of work experience, preferably in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning. Research streams (Economics and Statistics) demand a Masterβs degree in their respective fields (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Econometrics). The Legal stream requires a Bachelorβs degree in Law, and the Official Language stream requires a Masterβs in Hindi or related subjects with specific language combinations at the Bachelorβs level. It is vital to confirm your degree's validity and ensure all qualifying documents are prepared prior to applying.
The age limit for candidates applying for the PFRDA Grade A (Assistant Manager) position is strictly regulated by the official notification. Candidates must ensure that they satisfy the age requirements precisely as of the reference date of 31st July 2025.
The upper age limit is capped at 30 years. Consequently, an eligible applicant must have been born on or after 1st August 1995. This criterion is absolute, and candidates failing to meet this requirement are generally ineligible for the selection process. While this represents the general age constraint, it is critical for all applicants to verify their specific birth date against this cutoff. Furthermore, it is essential to remember that proof of age, typically in the form of a matriculation certificate or birth certificate, will be requested during the document verification stage of the recruitment process. Applicants should refrain from submitting applications if their age does not fall within the stipulated range, as the system and the manual scrutiny process will reject applications that violate these guidelines.
The selection process for PFRDA Grade A is a robust, merit-based mechanism designed to identify the most suitable candidates for the Assistant Manager designation. It comprises three distinct stages, each carrying specific weightage and importance.
Stage I (Online Test - I): This is an objective-type examination containing two papers. Paper I focuses on core general subjectsβEnglish, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, and General Awareness. Paper II is dedicated to subject-specific professional knowledge. This stage contributes 85% towards the final merit. Both papers consist of 100 marks each, making a total of 200 marks.
Stage II (Online Test - II): Candidates who qualify for the first stage proceed to the second stage of online objective testing. This stage includes a descriptive English paper and an additional, more advanced subject-specific professional knowledge paper. Each paper is worth 100 marks, totaling 200 marks.
Stage III (Interview): The final stage is the interview, which carries 15% weightage. Shortlisted candidates are invited to this stage to assess their suitability, personality, and professional potential. The interview can be conducted in either Hindi or English, based on the candidate's choice. The final merit list is prepared by combining the performance metrics from all three stages. Success requires proficiency and consistent performance throughout the journey.
- SC/ST Categories: Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories are granted an upper age relaxation of up to 5 years, provided the posts are specifically reserved for these categories.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Candidates from the Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) category are eligible for an upper age relaxation of up to 3 years, provided the posts are reserved for these categories.
- Government Norms: All relaxations are strictly provided in accordance with prevailing government directives. Candidates must ensure they hold the relevant valid caste certificates issued by the competent authority to avail these benefits during the document verification process.
- Stream Reservation: Age relaxation is primarily applicable when candidates are applying for streams where vacancies are allocated to their respective categories.
