MP Jail Prahari (General) Eligibility Criteria
Updated 2026- Academic requirement: A pass in the 10+2 system equivalent to the 10th standard.
- Additional Requirement: A valid registration with the Madhya Pradesh Employment Office is mandatory for all applicants.
- Nationality and Eligibility:
- Candidates must be citizens of India, or subjects of Sikkim, or persons of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan with the intention of permanent settlement (requiring an eligibility certificate), or individuals from specific French/Portuguese territories.
- Individuals who moved to India from Pakistan before 19 July 1948 or have registered as citizens are also eligible.
- Non-citizens who entered government service prior to 26 January 1950 and remain in service are also permitted to apply.

The age limit for candidates applying for the MP Jail Prahari exam is calculated based on the official guidelines. General category male candidates are eligible to apply between the ages of 18 and 33. For female candidates and those belonging to reserved categories such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), the upper age limit is relaxed to 38 years. Adherence to these age boundaries is crucial, and documentation to prove age is required during the verification stage.
- Written Test: The first stage is a computer-based objective test consisting of 100 questions. Candidates must qualify in this section to be considered for the subsequent physical stage. Only a specific number of candidates (ten times the total vacancy) who score the highest are invited for the second phase.
- Physical Standards and Efficiency Test (PST/PET): This stage tests the physical capability of the candidates.
- Male PST: Height of 165 cm, chest (without expansion) of 83 cm.

- Note on Non-Residents: Candidates who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh are treated as unreserved candidates and are not eligible for any age relaxation benefits available to the state's residents.
