IB Security Assistant Eligibility Criteria 2026

To be considered for the position of Security Assistant/Executive, candidates must fulfill the following educational and regional requirements:

• Matriculation: Candidates must have successfully passed the 10th standard (Matriculation) or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board.
• Domicile: Possession of a valid domicile certificate of the State or Union Territory for which the candidate has applied is mandatory.
• Local Language: Candidates are required to have knowledge of the local language or dialect corresponding to the SIB location of their application.
• Desirable Experience: While not a mandatory requirement, prior field experience in intelligence-related work is considered a positive attribute and is viewed as a desirable qualification.

Candidates must ensure they fall within the designated age bracket to be eligible for the application. As of the critical date (17 August 2025), the minimum age limit is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 27 years. Meeting these requirements is mandatory, and proof of age will be verified through valid documents during the subsequent stages of the selection process.

The selection for the Security Assistant/Executive position involves a three-tiered assessment process:

• Tier 1 (Objective Test): A computer-based examination comprising 100 objective-type questions covering Reasoning, General Awareness, Mathematics, English Language, and General Studies. A minimum qualifying score of 30 marks out of 100 is required for UR, 28 for OBC, 25 for SC/ST, and 30 for EWS candidates to move to the next stage.
• Tier 2 (Descriptive Test): A qualifying paper involving a 500-word passage translation exercise between English and the local language/dialect. Candidates must secure at least 20 out of 50 marks to qualify.
• Tier 3 (Interview): A personal interview (personality test) carries 50 marks. It assesses communication skills, general aptitude, and suitability for the intelligence domain.

Final selection is based on the cumulative performance in Tier 1 and Tier 3, following which successful candidates undergo character and antecedent verification and a medical fitness examination.

• SC/ST: 5 years relaxation.
• OBC: 3 years relaxation.
• Departmental candidates (Central Government): Up to 40 years.
• Widows/Divorced Women (UR): Up to 35 years.
• Widows/Divorced Women (OBC): Up to 38 years.
• Widows/Divorced Women (SC/ST): Up to 40 years.
• Ex-servicemen: As per government rules.
• Meritorious sportspersons: Up to 5 years with a valid certificate.
