IIT Madras Assistant Professor Exam Eligibility Criteria
Updated 2026Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree with a first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout.
The candidate should preferably be below 35 years of age for the Assistant Professor (Grade II) position, subject to relaxation as per Government of India norms.
- Screening of applications by the Departmental Selection Committee.
- Seminar presentation by shortlisted candidates.
- Interaction with the Faculty Selection Committee.
- Final approval by the Board of Governors.
- SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
