Updated 2026Educational Requirements
To be eligible for the Indian Navy SSR Agniveer position, applicants must meet the following mandatory educational qualifications:
- Candidates must have successfully cleared the 12th class examination (10+2) from a recognized board.
- The essential subjects for the 12th class exam are Mathematics and Physics.
- In addition to Mathematics and Physics, candidates must have passed with at least one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Computer Science, or Biology.
Meeting these minimum requirements is essential for the candidate's application to be processed further.
Age Criteria for 2026 Recruitment
Age eligibility is crucial for the selection process and is strictly defined based on the batch for which the candidate applies. The criteria are as follows:
- For Agniveer 01/2027 Batch: Candidates must be born between 01 December 2004 and 31 May 2009 (inclusive of both dates).
- For Agniveer 02/2027 Batch: Candidates must be born between 01 May 2005 and 31 October 2009 (inclusive of both dates).
Selection Methodology
The recruitment into the Indian Navy for the SSR program follows a robust three-tier process:
- Computer-Based Test (CBT): This is the initial screening stage. Candidates are tested on their knowledge of Mathematics, Science, English, and General Knowledge. This test assesses the candidate's aptitude and foundational knowledge.
- Written Examination & Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Successful candidates from the CBT proceed to this stage. The PFT tests physical endurance, including specific tasks like running and push-ups. This is coupled with a written exam evaluating numerical and reasoning ability.
- Medical Examination: The final stage is a thorough medical review conducted by Indian Navy medical officers to ensure that candidates meet the physical and mental health standards required for naval duty.
Age Relaxation Provisions
While the standard age limits are defined as per the batch requirements for the 2026 intake, specific relaxations are generally governed by the standard policies for government service. Candidates falling into reserved categories (such as SC, ST, or other applicable categories) should consult the official notification PDF provided during the recruitment window to confirm if their specific category is eligible for a relaxation beyond the general age brackets provided for the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches.
