The age limit for candidates applying for the IBPS SO 2026 examination is set between 20 and 30 years as of 01 July 2026. This implies that candidates must have been born no earlier than 02 July 1995 and no later than 01 July 2005 (both dates inclusive). This age bracket is designed to attract a young, energetic professional workforce capable of adapting to the evolving demands of the public banking system.
The selection process for the Specialist Officer cadre is meticulously structured into three distinct stages to ensure only the most qualified professionals are onboarded. The process starts with the Preliminary Examination, a screening test that evaluates basic aptitude. Successful candidates proceed to the Main Examination, which is the most critical stage, focusing exclusively on professional knowledge relevant to the candidate's stream (IT, Law, Agriculture, etc.). The final stage is the Personal Interview, where the candidate's professional expertise, communication skills, and mental suitability for the banking environment are evaluated by a panel. Each stage is a mandatory gateway, and clearing the cut-off at every level is essential for final selection.
