About Organisation
The Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), established in 1971 and located in Kalpakkam, is a premier research institution under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). It focuses on the development of fast breeder reactor technology and related nuclear sciences. As a constituent unit of the Homi Bhabha National Institute, IGCAR conducts advanced research in materials science, chemistry, and engineering, playing a pivotal role in India's nuclear energy program and scientific advancement.
