Minimum 21 years and maximum 32 years, with age relaxations applicable for reserved categories as per government guidelines.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Civil Services Examination consists of three distinct stages. The first stage is the Preliminary Examination, which is an objective-type test used for screening candidates. Those who qualify in the Prelims are eligible to appear for the Main Examination, which is a descriptive-type test consisting of nine papers. The final stage is the Personality Test or Interview, where candidates are evaluated on their mental caliber, social traits, and interest in current affairs. The final merit list is prepared based on the combined marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Interview.

Exam Pattern

The Preliminary Examination comprises two papers of objective type. Paper I covers General Studies, while Paper II is the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). Both papers are qualifying in nature, and marks obtained in the Prelims are not counted for the final merit list. There is a negative marking scheme for incorrect answers in both papers.
