Job Description

The roles are under various administrative and allied services where selected candidates will be responsible for governance, policy implementation, and administrative management across departments in Assam. It involves field as well as office-based responsibilities, contributing to public service delivery and state administration.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of Preliminary Examination, Main Examination (Written), and Interview/Personality Test.

Exam Pattern

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination will be held on 2026-07-05, as a screening test consisting of two objective-type papers of two hours each. There will be negative marking where one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Paper II will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%. The marks obtained in this stage will not be counted for the final merit list.

Main Examination (Written)

Based on the Preliminary Examination results, candidates will be shortlisted for the Written Examination at a ratio of 11 to 12 times the number of vacancies notified for each category. This stage will consist of six conventional essay-type papers.

Interview/Personality Test

Candidates will be called for the Interview/Personality Test in the ratio of 1:3 against the number of vacancies based on the written Main Examination results.

The test will judge the mental caliber, intellectual qualities, and social traits of the candidate. There will be no qualifying marks for the interview; however, these marks will be added to the written examination scores to determine the final ranking.

How to Apply

Candidates have to apply online through the APSC recruitment system. Follow the steps below to complete the application correctly.

  1. Visit the APSC recruitment portal and complete One Time Registration (OTR) using a valid email ID and mobile number if not already registered.
  2. Log in using registered email/mobile number and password.
  3. Fill in all required personal, educational, and other details carefully. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
  4. Upload required documents in PDF format:
    • Age proof (Class 10/12 certificate/marksheet showing DOB)
    • Degree certificate and all semester/year marksheets in a single PDF
    • Caste/Category certificate (if applicable)
    • PwBD certificate with type and percentage (if applicable)
    • BPL certificate (if applicable)
    • Small Family Norms declaration form
    • Valid Employment Exchange Registration Card
    • PRC/Caste certificate for Assam residents
    • NOC for candidates already employed in Govt/Public Sector
    • Scribe certificate (if applicable)
  5. Document upload conditions:
    • File size should not exceed 4 MB
    • Files must be clearly readable
    • Scanning recommended at 200 dpi in greyscale
  6. Upload recent photograph (50 KB – 200 KB, not older than 3 months) and signature (50 KB – 200 KB).
  7. Carefully preview the entire application and accept the declaration to enable final submission. No editing is allowed after final submission.
  8. After preview, click “Proceed to Pay” to continue or “Cancel” to make corrections.
  9. Pay the applicable application fee online. Once submitted successfully, a confirmation will be sent to registered email ID/mobile number.
  10. In case of payment failure, use “Check Status” to verify. If double payment happens, refund is processed within 5–7 working days.
  11. If unable to pay online, visit CSC centres to complete the form submission.
  12. After final submission, take a printout of the application form for future reference. No need to send printed copy to APSC at this stage.
