Selection Process

Selection Stages

The selection process begins with the Assam CEE entrance examination, which evaluates candidates on their proficiency in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Following the declaration of results, a merit list is prepared based on the total marks secured by the candidates in the entrance test.

Tie-Breaking Policy

In instances where multiple candidates achieve the same total score, the university applies a specific tie-breaking mechanism. Initially, the aggregate marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the Class 12 examination are compared. If the tie persists, the combined aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English is evaluated. Any remaining disputes are resolved by the Chairman of the Selection Committee.

Counselling and Allotment

Qualified candidates must register for the counselling process, which involves document verification and the submission of college preferences. Final seat allotment is determined by the candidate's rank, the preferences submitted, and the availability of seats in the respective engineering branches.

Exam Pattern

The Assam CEE 2026 was conducted in an offline OMR-based format. The paper consisted of 120 multiple-choice questions, with 40 questions each from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The total marks for the examination were 480, with each correct answer carrying four marks. There was a provision for negative marking for incorrect responses, which influenced the final scores and the resulting merit list.
