Selection Process

The written examination comprises 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark. Candidates are evaluated on subject knowledge, mental ability, and general awareness regarding the company and the state. No negative marking is applied for incorrect answers, making accuracy in the attempted questions vital for merit ranking.

This is an internal departmental selection. Only permanent and regular in-service employees of SECL are eligible to apply. External/direct candidates cannot apply. Employees originally appointed in a higher grade are also NOT eligible. The eligibility cut-off date is 31.05.2026.

The last date for eligible employees to submit the online application is 01 July 2026 (11:59 PM). Candidates are advised to apply well before the closing date to avoid technical difficulties.

There are two qualification pathways: (1) Standard X / Matriculate or equivalent for permanent employees with one year of service in Cat. IV/Tech. & Sup. Gr. E and above with aptitude for telecom discipline; OR (2) Standard X / Matriculate or equivalent along with ITI certificate in Electronics/equivalent for any permanent employee of the Company.

The selection will be through a Written Test (MCQ pattern) of 100 marks conducted on OMR sheet. There is NO interview and NO negative marking. The exam consists of Subject Knowledge (60 marks), Mental Ability/Reasoning (20 marks), and General Awareness about CIL/SECL and the State (20 marks).

General category candidates must score a minimum of 40% of total marks in the written test. SC/ST category candidates must score a minimum of 30% of total marks to qualify the written test.

Eligible in-service employees of SECL can apply only through the official internal selection portal at https://portals.secl-cil.in/internal/index.php. The link is also available on SECL's official website at https://www.secl-cil.in. No offline applications will be accepted.

No. There is NO negative marking for wrong answers in the written test. The MCQ-based OMR test consists of 100 questions carrying 1 mark each, with a total of 100 marks.
