How to Apply

  2. Fill in all required personal and educational details in English.
  3. Attach self-attested copies of age proof, educational certificates, and cultural qualification documents.
  4. Affix a recent passport-size photograph and sign across it.
  5. Enclose the Indian Postal Order (IPO) for the applicable fee.
  6. Include two self-addressed envelopes (24cm x 10cm) with Rs. 6/- stamps.
  7. Send the completed application via ordinary or speed post, or submit it in the Application Box at the Recruitment Section, Principal Chief Personnel Officer's Office, NFR HQ, Maligaon, Guwahati-781011.
  8. Keep a photocopy of the submitted application for future reference.

Cutoff Marks

Minimum 40% qualifying marks in both written test and practical demonstration.

Application Fee

General/OBC: Rs. 500/- (Rs. 400/- refundable). SC/ST/PwBD/Women/Minorities/EBC: Rs. 250/- (fully refundable). Payment via Indian Postal Order (IPO) in favor of PFA/NF Railway, payable at Maligaon Post Office.

Age Limit

18-30 years for UR, 18-33 years for OBC, 18-35 years for SC/ST as on 01.07.2026.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of two stages. Stage-I is a written test comprising 50 objective-type questions covering General Knowledge, Science, Mathematics, English, Hindi, Reasoning, and Professional Knowledge. Stage-II involves a practical demonstration of musical talent (35 marks) and an evaluation of testimonials/prizes (15 marks). Candidates must score at least 40% in each stage to qualify. A final merit list is prepared based on the total marks out of 100, followed by a mandatory medical fitness examination.

Exam Pattern

Written test duration is 60 minutes. It includes objective questions on General Knowledge, Science, Mathematics, English, Hindi, Reasoning, and Aptitude. Negative marking of 1/3rd mark per wrong answer applies.
