The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has officially launched the recruitment drive for Probationary Officers (PO) and Management Trainees (MT) under the CRP PO/MT-XVI 2026 cycle. This massive recruitment aims to fill 6,714 vacancies across 11 prominent public sector banks in India. Candidates are required to make strategic decisions regarding their bank preferences during the application process, which significantly impacts their final allotment based on merit and availability.
Joining as a Probationary Officer offers a prestigious career path with excellent job security and competitive salary packages. Employees benefit from structured promotion policies, regular training, and the opportunity to work in a dynamic financial environment with significant social impact.
The selection process consists of three distinct stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and a Personal Interview. The Preliminary exam is a qualifying round consisting of objective-type questions in English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
Candidates who qualify for the Prelims proceed to the Main Examination, which includes both objective and descriptive tests covering specialized banking knowledge and general awareness. The final stage is the Personal Interview, where candidates are evaluated on their communication skills, personality, and banking awareness.
A merit list is prepared based on the combined scores of the Main Examination and the Interview. Negative marking is applicable for wrong answers in objective tests.
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a key recruitment body that conducts various examinations for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and Public Sector Banks. These include positions such as Assistants, Clerks, Probationary Officers (PO)/Management Trainees (MT), and Specialist Officers. For the 2026-27 banking calendar, IBPS will oversee the recruitment of over 20,000 vacancies.
