The High Court of Gujarat has released a short notification for the Gujarat High Court Civil Judge Recruitment 2026 on the official website https://gujarathighcourt.nic.in/ under Advt. No. RC/0719/2026 for 237 positions. Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission reported in (2008) 17 SCC 703, under the Gujarat State Judicial Service Rules, 2005. The selection process for the Gujarat High Court Civil Judge recruitment is covered in three steps to ensure qualified candidates are appointed to the judicial services. Candidates are screened through a Preliminary MCQ-Based examination and shortlisted for the Mains exam. The Mains exam will check candidates’ knowledge in civil and criminal laws and will select candidates for the interview. The selection stages are given below:

The exam pattern for the GHC Civil Judge includes Prelims, Mains, and Interview. The recruitment examination will check the candidate’s legal knowledge, language proficiency, and overall suitability for the post. Candidates must qualify for each stage to get the final appointment.
The Preliminary exam is an elimination test that contains only objective-type questions. There are two papers in Stage 1. The Paper 1 is divided into three parts. Part A is for Criminal Laws, Part B is for Civil Laws, and Part C is for General Knowledge, English Language, Test of Reasoning, Numerical & Mental Ability, and Basics of Computer Applications. Paper 2 is for the Test of Gujarati Language. The Prelims exam is qualifying in nature, so marks are not counted for the final merit.
