Selection Process

CUET PG does not have fixed passing marks like school or board exams. Instead, the passing marks mean the minimum score required for admission, which is determined by individual universities after the results are declared. Candidates are evaluated based on their overall performance. Therefore, securing a higher score is essential for meeting the university-specific criteria.

The percentile scores indicate the candidate’s relative performance among others. Instead of just showing the raw marks of candidates, the percentile shows the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or below a particular score. The percentile score is made using a normalised score. Universities use percentile scores along with raw marks to prepare the merit list and shortlist candidates for admission. A higher percentile means better performance and a better chance at securing admission in top universities.

After the result is published, the qualified candidates will move forward with the admission process. As CUET PG is an entrance exam, the admission process will be carried out by the individual universities. The steps after the CUET PG result are declared are:

  • Candidates must apply to their preferred universities through their official website.
  • Then check the course-wise cut-offs and merit lists prepared by universities.
  • Candidates have to participate in the counselling process for each university.
  • Shortlisted candidates will receive an admission offer from the university(s).
  • Candidates have to appear for document verification.
  • Lastly, candidates are required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seat.
